I just had to research him since I am a nordic skier from West Virginia. I like to think I am like him, for I love long skis and camping. This man was truly a hero. We arre guiding a bus load og Norwegian Seniors (The Ystebo Tour)(totally 44 people). We plan to visit the SnowshoeThompson Museum, the cemetary where Thompson was buried, and look up his monuments. I have added the Genoa statue to my growing list of Scandinavian landmarks in California (ok, I stretched it a little). Did you know there was a small plaque to Thompson in Los Angeles, the Carthay Circle area? I have not yet found out why. So nice to see you web tribute to Thompson.
